EchoQuest v0.7–0.9: Multiplayer Arrives
The biggest milestone yet — EchoQuest is now a real multiplayer game. Players can see each other, fight together, chat, trade, and even PvP.
v0.7.0 — Multiplayer Infrastructure (Feb 5)
- Server infrastructure for multiplayer scaling
- Shared enemies that all players can see and fight together
- Real-time player positions and map rooms
- Docker deployment support
v0.8.0 — Chat, PvP & Trading (Feb 8)
- Multiplayer chat with map, global, and whisper channels
- PvP combat (opt-in) with level-based matchmaking and respawn protection
- Player-to-player trading system
- Admin multiplayer monitoring hub
v0.9.0 — Spells, Audio & Hotbar (Feb 11)
- Spells and Powers system with heal, damage, buff, and shield types
- Items and monsters are now fully database-driven with admin editors
- Audio system with music crossfade, sound effects, and volume settings
- Desktop hotbar with 10 slots (drag from inventory, mouse wheel or number keys to select)
- Achievement perks that grant permanent passive bonuses
Going from single-player to multiplayer changed everything. The game feels alive now — seeing other players running around the same dungeon is something else entirely.
