EchoQuest v0.18.0: 20 Quests & a Story to Tell
Until now, EchoQuest had exactly two quests. You could kill some goblins, gather some herbs, and then… that was it. The world was there, the systems were there, but the glue that turns a sandbox into an adventure was missing. Today’s update changes that.
A Main Story
There are now 10 main story quests forming a chain from level 1 to level 9. You arrive in Millhaven as a newcomer, meet the village NPCs, and are sent to deal with goblins in the Whispering Woods. From there the trail leads deeper — through Thornwood Forest with its wolves and restless skeletons, into Shadowfang Dungeon where orcs guard the path, and finally to a confrontation with the Dark Lord himself.
Each quest builds on the last. You can’t skip ahead; you earn your way through the story.
Side Quests & Dailies
Seven side quests give the village NPCs something to actually ask of you. Marcus needs ore for the forge. Thea wants herbs and rare reagents. Finn points you toward a wolf den he’s heard rumors about. These are optional, but they reward you with gear, XP, and coins that make the main story easier.
Two daily quests — Pest Control and Daily Harvest — reset every 24 hours. They’re simple, repeatable tasks that give you a reason to log in and earn steady rewards.
Explore Objectives
Quests can now send you to discover places, not just kill things. When a quest says “explore the northwest forest,” the game tracks your position and updates progress automatically when you enter that area. This was the biggest technical piece — the server now checks your position against zone boundaries and updates quest progress in real time.
Five Quest Givers
Elara the Village Elder still anchors the main story, but she’s no longer alone. Marcus the Blacksmith, Thea the Alchemist, Finn the Innkeeper, and Greta the Merchant all have quests to offer. Each NPC has proper dialogue for offering, tracking, and completing their quests.
By the Numbers
- 20 quests total (18 new + 2 existing)
- 27 quest objectives across kill, collect, explore, and interact types
- 58 dialogue nodes and 77 dialogue options
- 4 maps covered: Millhaven, Whispering Woods, Thornwood Forest, Shadowfang Dungeon
This is the kind of update that changes how the game feels. There’s a reason to explore now, a thread pulling you forward, and NPCs that feel like they belong in the world. It’s been a long time coming.
