One More Night: Boss Encounters — Every 5th Night Gets Dangerous
Waves 1 through 4 felt like a steady climb. Wave 5 felt like wave 4 but with more zombies. There was no moment that said “this is different, pay attention.” Today’s update changes that.
Every 5th Night Is a Boss Fight
Nights 5, 10, 15, 20, and beyond now spawn a single massive boss zombie instead of a normal wave. The boss uses the big zombie sprite scaled to 3.5x (you’ll notice it) with HP that scales per wave: 600 HP at night 5, 900 at night 10, 1,500 at night 20. There’s no timer — you have to kill it to move on.
Three-Phase System
The boss doesn’t just sit there and absorb bullets. It has three phases based on remaining HP:
- Phase 1 (100%–66% HP) — Slow and heavy. Boss moves at 0.6x normal zombie speed.
- Phase 2 (66%–33% HP) — Speeds up to 1.4x and the HP bar turns orange.
- Phase 3 (below 33% HP) — Enraged. 1.8x speed, 1.5x damage, bright red HP bar.
Every 8 seconds during the fight, 3 regular zombies spawn to keep you moving.
Boss Rewards
Killing a boss is worth it:
- 50 coins flat (on top of normal wave-clear coins)
- Guaranteed Legendary gem — the highest tier XP drop, every time
- Bonus ability pick — a free level-up card selection after a short delay
Boss HP Bar
A dedicated boss HP bar appears at the bottom of the screen during boss waves, with a phase indicator that updates as you chip away. A “BOSS FIGHT!” splash announces the encounter, and “BOSS DEFEATED!” celebrates the kill with reward callouts.
