EchoQuest v0.21.1: Mobile Polish & Visual Fixes
Version 0.21.1 is a polish patch focused on making EchoQuest look and feel right on mobile devices. The entire UI now uses a responsive layout that adapts to smaller screens, the logo doubles as a menu button on mobile, and all sprites render at 3x scaling so pixel art stays crisp instead of blurry on high-DPI displays. We also tackled the green line artifacts that some mobile players were seeing — thin colored lines bleeding between tiles during scrolling. The fix was a combination of camera pixel snapping, tile extrusion on our tilesets, and converting tileset images to lossless WebP to eliminate compression artifacts at tile edges.
On desktop, interactable objects and resource nodes now show custom pixel-art cursors on hover — a pickaxe for ore, an axe for trees, a hand for NPCs and doors — giving you immediate visual feedback about what you can interact with. We also fixed several visual issues that had been lingering: missing wall tiles in the tavern interior, black borders rendering outside map boundaries, and health bars occasionally drawing behind other sprites. Tileset URLs now include cache-busting parameters, so when we update art assets players always see the latest version without needing to clear their browser cache.
Finally, an admin-side bug that caused tileset upload errors has been resolved. A small patch, but one that touches nearly every pixel on screen.
