TileForge Studio

The browser-based 2D tile map editor for indie devs.

Map Editor Browser-Based Free Tiled-Compatible

What is TileForge Studio?

TileForge Studio is a browser-based 2D tile map editor for indie game developers, level designers, and hobbyists. Open a tab, import your tileset, and start building. No download, no install.

It reads and writes TMJ files (the JSON format used by Tiled), so your maps work in any engine that supports Tiled. Export directly to Godot, Phaser, or Unity. Sync your work to GitHub, or save to the cloud with an EchoForge account.

Features

6 Procedural Generators

Generate dungeons, caves, overworlds, and more with built-in algorithms. Adjust settings and regenerate until the layout looks right.

8 Drawing Tools

Pencil, brush, fill, rectangle, eraser, eyedropper, selection, and stamp. Eight tools for exact tile placement and quick edits.

Layer System

Organize your map with multiple tile layers, object layers, and collision layers. Reorder, hide, lock, and rename freely.

Undo/Redo & Copy/Paste

Full undo/redo history so you can try things without worry. Copy and paste regions across layers or between maps.

GitHub Sync

Connect your GitHub account and push or pull map files right from your repositories. Your maps stay version-controlled next to your game code.

Engine Export

Export to Godot, Phaser, or Unity with one click. TMJ output works with any engine that reads Tiled maps.

Why TileForge?

The tile map editor market hasn't moved much. Tiled is a desktop app with an old interface. LDtk development has stalled. Sprite Fusion covers some basics but lacks depth.

TileForge Studio is a modern web app built from the ground up. It runs in your browser on any OS. It saves to the cloud, syncs with GitHub, and exports to the engines you use. No installer, no update prompts — just open a tab and build.

Pricing

Free to use. Upgrade when you need more storage.

Free Tier

All editor features, all tools, all generators. 25 MB cloud storage with an EchoForge account. Local file save/load always available — no account required.

Paid Tiers

Need more cloud storage for large projects or teams? Paid tiers with expanded storage are coming soon. The editor itself stays free forever.

FAQ

Is TileForge Studio free?

Yes. The editor is free, and all features are included. Sign in with an EchoForge account to get 25 MB of cloud storage. You can also save and load files locally with no account at all.

What file formats does TileForge support?

TileForge uses the TMJ format (Tiled's JSON format), which works across most game engines. It also exports directly to Godot, Phaser, and Unity.

Do I need to install anything?

No. TileForge Studio runs entirely in your browser. Just open the URL and start editing. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebook.

Can I sync my maps with GitHub?

Yes. Connect your GitHub account and push or pull map files right from your repositories. Your maps stay version-controlled next to your game code.

Can I use maps made in Tiled?

Yes. TileForge reads and writes TMJ files. You can open existing Tiled maps and keep editing them. Going back and forth between TileForge and Tiled works without any issues.
