TileForge Studio
The browser-based 2D tile map editor for indie devs.
What is TileForge Studio?
TileForge Studio is a browser-based 2D tile map editor built for indie game developers, level designers, and hobbyists. Open a tab, import your tileset, and start building — no download, no install, no friction.
It reads and writes TMJ files (the JSON variant of the Tiled format), so your maps work everywhere Tiled maps do. Export directly to Godot, Phaser, or Unity. Sync your work to GitHub or save to the cloud with an EchoForge account.
Features
6 Procedural Generators
Generate dungeons, caves, overworlds, and more with built-in procedural algorithms. Tweak parameters and regenerate until the layout feels right.
8 Drawing Tools
Pencil, brush, fill, rectangle, eraser, eyedropper, selection, and stamp. Everything you need for precise tile placement and fast iteration.
Layer System
Organize your map with multiple tile layers, object layers, and collision layers. Reorder, hide, lock, and rename freely.
Undo/Redo & Copy/Paste
Full undo/redo history so you can experiment without fear. Copy and paste regions across layers or between maps.
GitHub Sync
Connect your GitHub account and push or pull map files directly from your repositories. Keep your maps version-controlled alongside your game code.
Engine Export
Export your maps to Godot, Phaser, and Unity formats with a single click. TMJ/Tiled-compatible output works with any engine that reads Tiled maps.
Why TileForge?
The existing tile map editor landscape is stuck. Tiled is a desktop app with a dated interface that hasn’t kept pace with modern workflows. LDtk development has stalled. Sprite Fusion covers some ground but lacks the depth indie devs need.
TileForge Studio is built from scratch as a modern web app. It runs in your browser on any OS, saves to the cloud, syncs with GitHub, and exports to the engines you actually use. No installer, no update prompts — just open a tab and build.

FAQ
Is TileForge Studio free?
Yes. The editor is completely free with all features available. A free tier includes 25 MB of cloud storage when you sign in with an EchoForge account. You can also save and load files locally without any account.
What file formats does TileForge support?
TileForge uses the TMJ format (Tiled’s JSON variant), which is widely supported across game engines. It also exports directly to Godot, Phaser, and Unity formats.
Do I need to install anything?
No. TileForge Studio runs entirely in your browser. Just open the URL and start editing. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebook.
Can I sync my maps with GitHub?
Yes. Connect your GitHub account and push or pull map files directly from your repositories. Your maps stay version-controlled alongside your game code.
Can I use maps made in Tiled?
Yes. TileForge reads and writes TMJ files, so you can open existing Tiled maps and continue editing them. Round-tripping between TileForge and Tiled works seamlessly.
